Gifts for Nannies

 In Families, Nannies

Ladies and gentlemen, the holiday season is upon us and we can all agree that the year has flown by! We are almost in 2020 (take a second and let that sink in, but don’t panic.) With all the hustle and bustle of the year coming to an end, we hope you have completed everything on your to-do list, and can find some time to relax. As you finish your gift shopping for friends, family, and loved ones, we hope you will remember to shop for your special and beloved nanny, too! Not sure what they want and/or need? Family First has put together a Nanny’s Christmas Wish List for just this reason, written for families, by a nanny (so you know it’s legit.) Happy shopping, and we hope you enjoy the holidays with warmth and love.

To be frank, a cash bonus.

It’s standard in the nanny industry (or any career, really) to give a bonus around the end of the year. While it is not required, or expected, your nanny is guaranteed to love and appreciate some extra money during their holiday season. It is typical for a family to gift one or two weeks worth of wages as a bonus.

Extra PTO

Similar to a bonus, you could offer your nanny extra time off and gift them with any of the items below to utilize during their fun free time!

Self-care treatments/items

We all know that nannies are caregivers. They spend their careers putting others needs in front of their own, and sometimes it can take a toll on their minds and bodies. Consider gifting your nanny a mani/pedi, a massage, or a facial. After all, who doesn’t love a little R&R once in awhile?

Car detailing

I mentioned this as a great gift for your nanny in my blog for National Nanny Recognition Week, but it is so perfect, I decided it needed to be said again. We all know how messy kids can be in the car. The underneath of a carseat can look like a mini trash can exploded. We say “but I don’t even let them eat in my car that much, how does this happen?“ while scratching our heads. Truth is, no one knows, it’s a mystery. If your nanny uses their car while working (or even if they don’t, honestly), a car detailing is a wonderful present.

This Adorable Necklace from Etsy

If your nanny is into jewelry, this sentimental necklace is sure to make them feel loved and appreciated. The two connecting circles represent the unbreakable bond your nanny and child will always have. This is a gift they will (literally) always hold near to their hearts.

Personalized ANYTHING (you can tell by my use of CAPS that this excites me the most)

Your nanny is sure to love anything with your children’s faces on it. I know, it makes you chuckle a little, BUT IT’S TRUE. If your nanny is an avid reader, maybe a gift card and a bookmark with a picture of your child(ren) on it. Anything can be personalized with a photo, guys. Even socks. YES, socks. You can plaster a photo of your nanny and child all over a pair of socks (or a blanket, or a travel coffee cup, or a t shirt.) You name it, it’s possible. In fact, here is a link to a place that can help you do just that!

A Thank You Video

It is vital to your family-nanny relationship that your nanny know they are loved and appreciated. A creative and fun way to show this around the holidays (or any time) is a thank you video! Get everyone they work around involved. The kids, parents, grandparents, uncles, whomever. Have each member of your family say a few things they appreciate and notice about all the hard work your nanny does. This is sure to be a heartwarming and thoughtful gift that your nanny can view for years to come.

A restaurant gift card

Consider gifting your nanny a gift card to their favorite restaurant this holiday season, so they can go out with their spouse or friends and enjoy a meal they may have not have bought themselves!

Family First Household Staffing Agency hopes you have a wonderful holiday season!
