Full-Time Flexible Nanny Needed in Pittsburgh, PA

Location: Pittsburgh, PA (15057)
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours guaranteed, typically 7 AM to 7 PM 3 rotating days a week.
Start Date: Within the next month
Compensation: $30+ per hour with potential for extra income if additional activities or playdates with cousins are arranged. 

Job Overview:
We are a warm and welcoming family seeking a dedicated and nurturing full-time nanny to care for our energetic 4-year-old. He is a kind, curious, and imaginative child who thrives with positive redirection, co-regulation, and a structured environment. We value kindness, patience, and open communication. The position requires a responsible caregiver who can provide stability, engage in fun and educational activities, and support his emotional needs. The ideal nanny will also help with transporting him to and from school and assist with feeding and care for our dog.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide attentive, nurturing care, including emotional support, physical activities, and redirection when necessary.
  • Follow a consistent daily routine, which includes school drop-off/pick-up, meals (feeding in the AM and PM), and daily activities.
  • Encourage outdoor play, such as walks, scooter riding, and trampoline parks, as well as arts and crafts, writing, building forts, and reading books with limited screen time. 
  • Take care of the family dog, including feeding and ensuring the dog’s safety and well-being.
  • If the family’s schedule permits, facilitate playdates with cousins, providing additional fun and social opportunities.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Help with light household duties related to childcare (e.g., laundry, cleaning up after activities, resetting play areas, organizing toys etc.).

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with young children, particularly emotional and sensitive children.
  • A positive, patient, and calm demeanor.
  • Ability to provide redirection and emotional support (no yelling, no timeouts).
  • Comfort with engaging in a wide variety of activities: outdoor play, arts and crafts, reading, and imaginative play.
  • Ability to manage a schedule and handle school drop-offs/pick-ups.
  • Must have a reliable car and a valid driver’s license.
  • Comfortable with a dog in the home.
  • Must be able to work on a flexible schedule with 3 – 12-hour shifts (7 AM – 7 PM).
  • Must be available to start within the next month.

About the Family:

  • Mom works in the medical field with a schedule that varies monthly, which will be communicated in advance. This means a level of flexibility is appreciated, but we do try to maintain a regular routine.
  • We are a respectful, family-oriented household with a strong emphasis on emotional well-being. We believe in gentle parenting techniques, co-regulation, and creating a calm, structured environment where our son can thrive.

Ideal Candidate: We’re looking for a caring, responsible, and experienced nanny who can help our child grow and feel supported while we work. The ideal candidate will have a nurturing personality, be a great communicator, and possess the flexibility and commitment to join our family in the long term. Experience with high profile families is a plus.

    Candidate Qualifications:

    • At least 3 years of professional nanny experience and recent experience with infants.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a high level of emotional intelligence.
    • Must be reliable, organized, self motivated and proactive
    • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record; familiarity with driving in various conditions, including snow.
    • Must be 21+ have a valid passport for  international travel and legally allowed to work in the US. 
    • CPR & First Aid certified.
