Family First Household Staffing Agency is assisting a family located in Davidson, NC, in finding an educator willing to assist with remote learning for their two children, a girl (age 10, 5th grade) and boy (age 11, 6th grade). Hours each week for the position would be Monday-Friday, 10am-4pm guaranteeing 30 hours per week. The family is offering $20-23 per hour for a kind, experienced educator excited about enriching the children’s education with project-based and explorative learning. They are looking to hire an educator to begin August 31, 2020 and end in December 2020, with the option to extend through the second semester for the right fit for their family. The children will be learning through the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools virtual program through Davison K-8.
The perfect candidate would ideally have a bachelor’s degree in education, with some experience as a classroom teacher. The family is really hoping to find someone who is patient and kind, can engage with the children positively, and who can share their enthusiasm for learning with them. Both mom and dad work from home, so the educator must be comfortable with others in the home during work hours. The family prefers that the educator does not have another in person job and is following CDC guidelines for COVID-19.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a love and passion for learning. The family would like to partner with someone who can provide the children with fun and educational challenges, keep them engaged in their virtual sessions, help them to develop and continue positive study habits, and communicate with parents if there are assignments students are working on that need completion, etc.
The children have varied interests and enjoy drawing, the environment, plants, exploring outside, and working on projects that spark their imagination. The ideal educator would be open to enriching the children’s education through movement outside, creativity, and projects challenging the children to think critically. It would be great if the children’s educator spoke a different language or could develop some independent study for a second language or activity. The family loves to travel, and so someone who might enjoy talking about other cultures or exploration would be great.

Educator related duties including but not limited to:
- Helping children pace themselves while participating in virtual learning
- Assisting children in completing assignments
- Designing and guiding the children through educational enrichment activities
- Communicating with parents regarding the children’s educational progress
- Assisting students in sustaining positive and effective study habits
- Supplementing instructing where needed
Childcare responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- transporting children to afternoon activities
- ensuring children are spending time outside
- making lunches and snacks to keep their energy up
